TAGT Announces New Executive Director
Sheri Hicks, CAE, will serve as the new TAGT Executive DirectorAUSTIN, TEXAS – June 28, 2017 - The Texas Association for the Gifted & Talented (TAGT) Board of Directors is thrilled to announce Sheri Hicks, CAE, as their new Executive Director, effective July 10. With more than 22 years of experience in association management, Hicks brings a wealth of experience to her new role.
“After a thorough process working with a national search firm and a search committee of TAGT members we are very pleased to make this announcement,” said TAGT Board President and chair of the search committee, Priscilla Lurz, M.Ed. “Sheri brings a breadth of perspective and experience to TAGT as well as a deep sense of commitment to the Texas education community.”
Since 2014, Hicks has served as Director for Board and Management Services at the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) where she was the chief liaison to the TASB Board of Directors as well as six governing boards. She also oversaw and managed the association membership. Prior to her time at TASB, Hicks was the policy director at TEXALTEL, a trade association representing small and medium communications carriers. She directed their legislative program at the state and federal level and worked directly with the members and board to advance the organization's goals. Hicks earned a master's degree in public administration from Texas State University and, in 2017, she received her Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation.
