Legislative Updates for March 23, 2023

On Tuesday, the gifted community, represented by TAGT, was recognized in both the House and the Senate in honor of G/T Awareness Week which begins April 3, 2023. A very special thank you to Rep. Shaheen and Sen. Springer and their staff for this special acknowledgment. In addition to HCR 8, Rep. Shaheen filed HR 594 to celebrate G/T Awareness Week for 2023.

Both House and Senate Education Committees are meeting and hearing bills. This week in the House the Committee heard HB 900 (Patterson)- Relating to the regulation of books sold to or included in public school libraries along with bills relating to teacher training and Pre-K. The Senate has been hearing bills on the floor and sending them to the House. The House Committees are hearing bills and should be sending them to the House Calendars Committee to be set for floor debate. It is anticipated that the House will begin to hear bills on the floor next week.
