A message from the TAGT President: Happy new year! I hope that you had a joyous holiday season with family and friends and that you got to take some time to rejuvenate as we head into the winter and spring semester.
Happy new year! I hope that you had a joyous holiday season with family and friends and that you got to take some time to rejuvenate as we head into the winter and spring semester. It is my distinct honor to be able to serve this vibrant community of educators and advocates as your TAGT President. As an educator and scholar who has worked in the field of gifted education for just over 20 years, I am incredibly proud to be a part of the work that you continue to do every day to support the unique needs of gifted and talented students in Texas.
For the past two years, your TAGT Board has been actively engaged in work to reflect on our systems and practices as an association to ensure greater representation, access, and equity for our membership within every aspect of our organization. My primary goal moving forward is that we continue to advance this work to break down barriers and eliminate disparities that may exist—regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, or geographic location—as we continue to recognize and foster the gifts and talents of our membership. In doing so, we will continue to build a culture of collaboration and innovation while empowering our future leaders to ensure that our organization remains a vibrant and responsive voice for all gifted students in our state.
As I look forward to the coming year, I am excited about the possibilities that exist for TAGT. I invite you to join me on this journey of advancing gifted education in Texas. Together, we can make a difference for our gifted and talented students and their families.
Thank you for your support and dedication to TAGT.
