On Sunday evening in Austin, Texas, Governor Abbott gave his State of the State address. In his speech he laid out his emergency items, items that can be fast tracked by a constitutional provision. Abbott named seven priorities: School Choice, Teacher Pay, Expanding Career Training, Property Tax Relief, Water Infrastructure Investment, Bail Reform and Cyber Command.

Abbott named seven priorities: School Choice, Teacher Pay, Expanding Career Training, Property Tax Relief, Water Infrastructure Investment, Bail Reform and Cyber Command. The Senate Committee on K-12 held a hearing and passed out SB2, the Senate's school voucher bill, on January 28. The measure was debated on the Senate floor on Wednesday, February 5. Representative Curry filed House Concurrent Resolution 64 (HCR64). This measure would designate the first week of April as G/T week for 10 years.
