Legislative Update

It has been a busy week in the Legislature as it relates to public education. At this time, both the House and the Senate have filed their versions of the Education Savings Account (ESA) bills HB 3 (Buckley) and SB 2 (Creighton)
It has been a busy week in the Legislature as it relates to public education. At this time, both the House and the Senate have filed their versions of the Education Savings Account (ESA) bills HB 3 (Buckley) and SB 2 (Creighton). And In addition to the ESA Bill, the House has laid out their Public School Finance Bill or HB 2 (Buckley), and HB 4 (Buckley) will address assessments. There are hearings scheduled to hear HB 2 and HB 3 next week and the following week. If you would like to tune in, you can find the broadcast on the Broadcast Events web page. 

Senator Tan Parker filed SCR 23 designating the first full week in April as Gifted and Talented Students Week for a 10-year period ending in 2035. Senator Nathan Johnson filed SB 1613, which is the Senate companion to Rep. Noble's HB 977.
