It has been a busy week in the House. On Monday, they rolled out their revised Public School Finance bill (HB 2) and Education Savings Account bill (HB 3). The House Public Education Committee was scheduled to meet on Tuesday, but after releasing these updated versions, they moved the meeting to Thursday. HB 2 passed out of the Committee with a vote of 13-2, and HB 2 passed 9-6. They are both headed to the Calendars Committee and then to the floor. The General Appropriations Bill (SB 1) - or the budget - is scheduled to be on the House floor on Thursday. HB 977 (Noble) and SB 1613 (Johnson), the bills that would increase the cap from 5% to 10%, are awaiting hearings in each chamber. |
