Exciting G/T news! The Senate passed HCR 64 (Curry), which is headed to the Governor's desk. This is a very proud moment as the State of Texas will recognize the first week of April as G/T Week for the next 10 years. We are at the point in the session where tensions are high, people get a little silly, and nights get even longer. So far, the two chambers have sent 19 bills to the Governor's desk. These bills were authored by both parties and cover a variety of topics. The first deadline is fast approaching. We are two weeks from the deadline to hear House Bills on the floor and just over 3 weeks until the last day for the House to head Senate bills.
HB 2 (Buckley), the bill that would make changes to school finance, was referred to the K-16 on April 23 and still has not been set for a hearing.
HB 977 (Noble)/SB 1613 (Johnson) are both in their respective committees awaiting hearings.
