House Bill 3 in Senate Ed Committee:
Call to Action

Tomorrow, April 25, the Senate version of House Bill 3 will be released and heard in the Senate Education Committee. Though it has not been released, it is expected that the G/T allotment will be repealed in the revised Senate version.
The repeal of the G/T allotment means no direct requirements to fund G/T program would be in place; there would be no requirement to spend any minimum amount of funds on the G/T program, services, or students. TAGT asks Texas legislators reinstate the G/T allotment (Section 42.156). Find more resources and FAQs here.
TAGT's Call to Action:
  1. Public testimony on HB3 in the Senate Education Committee will occur Thursday, April 25, in Austin beginning around 1:00 p.m. Invited testimony will begin at 9:00 a.m. We need you, G/T advocates, to consider testifying on behalf of the G/T allotment. You may also attend the hearing or visit the Capitol to register for and provide comments on the bill without testifying. If you would like to take part in this public testimony or would like to learn more about what this entails, contact TAGT as soon as possible so we can provide you with more information and guidance.
  2. Find your State Senator and their contact information.
  3. Write a letter to your State Senator. TAGT has provided a Sample Letter on HB3 that can serve as a base. However, we strongly recommend you customize/personalize this sample letter; form letters are not nearly as impactful. Find more resources and FAQs here.
  4. Share the TAGT Call to Action with your personal contacts.
