Legislative Update

The House and Senate Education committees have both begun hearing bills. The Senate Education held their first meeting today, considering 6 of the 81 bills that have been referred to the committee. You can find the committee agendas, live stream and archived recordings for Senate Education here.

  • The House Public Education Committee meets every Tuesday morning and has considered 17 of the 213 bills referred to that committee. You can find the committee agendas, live stream and archived recordings for the House Public Education committee here.
  • In G/T education news, HCR 27, designating the first full week in April as Gifted and Talented Students Week for the next decade, was referred to Public Education. Several Legislators are signing on in support of Chairman Guillen's resolution. Senator Jane Nelson has agreed to pick up HCR 27 when it moves to the Senate. We are one step closer to officially having a week dedicated to G/T students!
