G/T Allotment
On Wednesday, HB 1525 was amended from the Senate floor by Chairman Taylor(6:23:30) to reinstate the G/T Allotment. The engrossed bill with final amendments and language has not been posted or made public at the time of publishing this update. The Senate version will be posted here.

Related, the SB 1 Conference Committee, led by Chair Nelson and Chair Bonnen, published the final report which includes provisions for the G/T Allotment. This is the final version of the Texas budget for the 87th Session and has been adopted by both chambers as of today. The bill does include a caveat that states that G/T Allotment funding is contingent on HB 1525 or a similar bill passing with the G/T Allotment included.

What happens next? Representative Huberty (HB 1525's author) must either concur with Senate amendments to HB 1525 or request a Conference Committee to come to a consensus on the two versions of the bill. The final bill must be brought out of Conference Committee to both chambers by Sunday to be adopted.

TAGT will continue to update G/T advocates on the status of the G/T Allotment and any calls to action that are necessary.

HB 1302
HB 1302 will not pass this session, but we will continue to advocate to include advanced learning strategies in the public school accountability system in future sessions.
