The TAGT Gifted Plus Equity Conference: Serving the Underserved is geared towards the educators who work tirelessly to ensure equitable access for all gifted students. Sessions will focus on at least one of the four main tracks:

  • Twice Exceptional (learning disabilities)
  • Underserved Populations (low SES, minorities)
  • English Language Learners (ELL)
  • Also homeless, military, girls, LGBTQ, etc.
Optional: ELL Summit, June 14, 2018, 1 p.m.–4 p.m.

Gifted Services That Embrace Enfranchising English Language Learners Through Implementation and Practice

Learn how to integrate diversely gifted learners’ needs into every aspect of school. This interactive workshop provides a roadmap for implementing and sustaining successful, inclusive gifted services that increase prospects for underserved populations and open access to learning opportunities historically reserved for high-achieving gifted students. Participants will build an understanding of general ability, how to bridge ability and achievement, and methods for grouping students to help guide instruction and measure growth. Come prepared to experience the presenter’s suggestions, tools, and methods for monitoring and documenting progress, evaluating program efficacy, and planning for program improvement firsthand in this hands-on workshop.
