Quakertown Quandaries: Using Local Historical Narrative to Explore Complex Issues
What stories from the past exist in our communities? How can students dive into local historical narrative to explore complex issues and consider outcomes of how the past shaped and continues to impact communities? Spend an afternoon exploring Quakertown, a once vibrant African American community in the heart of Denton. Leave considering your own community’s historical narrative and how students can utilize it to leverage learning into deeper understandings. Limited to 20 participants
Visit Paul Quinn College
Dallas’s own HBCU, Paul Quinn College, is thinking outside the box when it comes to education. Come see innovations first hand from the "We Over Me Farm" to a Title One International Baccalaureate school on a college campus. Visit with Early Talent Identification Program staff and learn how diversity and equity initiatives at Paul Quinn are serving traditionally underrepresented gifted children in the DFW community. Limited to 10 participants
