Learn More About the Speaker
Lynette Breedlove, Ph.D., is the Director of The Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science on the campus of Western Kentucky University, a state-wide public residential STEM school for gifted and talented and high ability students. Throughout her career, she has served the needs of gifted and talented students in public schools as a teacher, a gifted and talented facilitator, and central office coordinator/director. In her central office role in a public school district, she led the establishment of a school for highly gifted students that was carefully designed to meet the specialized needs of this exceptional population. She has been active in local, state, and national advocacy organizations that support gifted students, serving as board president of the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented, as well as The Association for the Gifted, serving as treasurer and president-elect of the Kentucky Association for Gifted Education, and serving in various leadership roles within the National Association for Gifted Children. She often presents on the needs of gifted children, helping educators and parents understand gifted and talented and high potential children, how their academic and psychological needs are connected, and what they need to flourish. She completed her master’s degree in Gifted and Talented Education at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas, and her doctorate in Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University.
